Art League Fort Bend Fall 2020 Show

To enter the show you must submit your entries in BOTH the LSAG (if you are a LSAG member) website (http://lsag.wspub.com/) and the ArtCall.org show website.
 
Please follow the guidelines below in selecting the correct Division and Category for your art work before entering it. It will be needed to enter it in the correct ArtCall category. We don’t want to judge Adult Students in the Professional division, but it will happen if they are entered in the incorrect category. The entry has to be done correctly by the participating artist.

DIVISION:           
I. Professional, II. Semi-Professional, III. Non-Professional, IV. Adult Student, V. School Student Elementary, Middle or High School
(You may enter only one division and you must remain in that division the entire art season August to the following July)

There are five (5) Artist Divisions.  These Artist Divisions are separated by the following primary skill levels:
I. Professional – Artist’s choice for this designation
II. Semi-Professional - Artist’s choice to move up
III. Non-Professional - Artist’s choice to move up
IV. Adult Student – Adult who has created art work for less than three years either through self-study or under the direction of an art teacher. The teacher may give any and all verbal assistance needed; however, the teacher MAY NOT PHYSICALLY WORK ON the artwork to be entered in a show. After two (2) years of College Art (4 art courses) or three (3) years as an Adult Student, any LSAG member shall enter the Non-Professional Division.
V. High School Student - Any school student, High School.
V. Middle School Student - Any school student, Middle School.
V.  Elementary School Student - Any school student, Elementary School.

CATEGORIES:     A. Oil/Acrylic Painting, B. Watercolor/Acrylic Painting, C. Pastels, D. Drawing, E. Mixed Media,  
F. Photography, G. Digital Art, H. Abstract/Experimental/Non-Objective Fine Art, I. Sculpture, J. Studio Fine Crafts

There are ten (10) Art Categories which are generally separated by art types and medium used.   The following guidelines were written to assist artists in choosing the appropriate Art Category for their artwork*:
Category A: Oil/Acrylic Painting – oil paintings and acrylic paintings painted like an oil painting
Category B: Watercolor/Acrylic Painting – watercolor and acrylic paintings applied with water giving the appearance of a watercolor painting
Category C: Pastels – including pastels applied over a watercolor under painting
Category D: Drawing – including Sumi-e and oriental brush painting.
Category E: Mixed Media – artwork displaying two or more types of media, including but not limited to collage, encaustic painting and other mixed media
Category F: Photography – digital or film photography minimally manipulated or altered using technology
Category G: Digital Art – all forms of digital art including photography that has been greatly manipulated or altered using technology
Category H: Abstract/ Experimental/Non-Objective Art – in any medium
Category I: Sculpture – 3-D forms in various media, including sculptures in relief
Category J: Studio Fine Crafts – original fine crafts created in a studio environment including glass blowing, stained glass, printmaking, porcelain, woodwork, jewelry, mosaic, weaving, fiber art, metal work, and other finely crafted items

*Each artist decides the category to place his or her art work. The advice of the member league’s show chairperson is available upon request.  NOTE: The show committee reserves the right to disqualify any artwork NOT entered in the appropriate category or meeting the submission requirements.

Rules:
1. Art work must have been completed within the last two years.
2. Art work must be completely your own original work.
3. Each piece of artwork must have a TITLE- “Un-named” or “Un-titled” is not acceptable.
4. Art work must be appropriate for a family-friendly event. No nudes, gory violence and/or obscene words may be depicted in the art piece or Title of the Entry.
5. Any given piece of artwork may ONLY receive a maximum of two (2) PLACE ribbons not including NON-qualifying Honorable Mentions.   Once it has received two (2) qualifying ribbons, it may NOT be entered in another show.  A PLACE ribbon would be ANY Best of Award, 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, & FIRST Honorable Mention (Regular Honorable Mentions are NOT place ribbons).
6. Once an artwork has received a 'best of' or first place ribbon, it may NOT be entered in another show.
7.Qualifying artworks may be entered only ONCE in an LSAG convention show.  Once a piece goes through a season, qualifies, and goes to the convention show, it may NOT be entered into another show ---league or convention--- ever again, not another year, & not another league's show.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Friday, October 17, 2020 (NO Exceptions)
This is an open show. However, ALFB reserves the right to end entry acceptances prior to the deadline should the capacity of the venue location be met before the deadline date. Any artist whose artwork cannot be accommodated shall be notified upon receipt of entry.

Please enter your artwork online (see detailed instructions at www.artleaguefortbend.org). Fees will be paid by credit card at the time of work submission.



I have read, understand and my artwork complies with the Lone Star Art Guild (LSAG) rules as described in the show guidelines and those further established by this art league.  My submitted art work(s) is original in concept and design, completed within the last two years, and is solely my own work.  I shall respect and honor all decisions made by Art Show Chairperson and the Judging Committee as final. When accepted as a participant, the participating individual hereby agrees to save, indemnify and hold harmless ALFB, Fort Bend Art Center, and the Lone Star Art Guild (LSAG)
and all such parties, officers, volunteers and employees from and against any and all claims of liability, judgments or other expenses, damages or losses of any nature (including injuries to or death of Persons) associated directly or indirectly out of or related to participation in this show.
